About HCC

President's Welcome

President Guy AltieriWelcome to the Hagerstown Community College web site. This is a dynamic and growing resource for you to use to learn more about the college and to facilitate your learning and business transactions with faculty and staff, as you access the opportunities awaiting you here.

The College is very proud to be celebrating its 60th anniversary. Over the past six decades we have served over 150,000 people who have looked to Hagerstown Community College (HCC) to make a positive difference in their lives through quality post-secondary programs and services. As Maryland’s first community college, HCC has a long history of maintaining a highly credentialed and very student centered faculty and staff, a quality curriculum, a beautiful and well-equipped campus, and a wide variety of student and community services. We do all of this to respond to the needs and interests of the communities we are pleased to serve.

It is very gratifying that student enrollments in recent years have increased substantially, as more are making the “smart choice” to come to HCC as the next step in their education. In this information age, those who succeed are invariably lifelong learners. So whatever your circumstance, HCC has programs and courses to meet your needs and interests.

I like to describe the College as “a place so close that can take its learners so far.” Your future and the future of those depending on you will be greatly affected by your decision to continue your education. So don’t hesitate to join our ever growing community of learners and stay close, as your prepare to go far. For sixty years we have successfully served the educational needs of a large and diverse population of learners. Come let us help you succeed!

                                                                                Sincerely,

                                                                                Guy Altieri, Ed.D.
                                                                                President
