The Transfer Process

Transferring to a college or university can be a challenging task. In order to ensure a successful transfer, it is necessary to have early preparation, research, and planning. Dual Admission Programs

HCC participates in several special transfer agreements called Dual Admission Programs. For these agreements, students should apply for admission to the four-year school before they complete thirty college credits at HCC. These include:

UMUC

Penn State-Harrisburg

Shippensburg University

For information on any of the Dual Admission Programs and Articulation Agreements with these institutions, contact an HCC academic advisor, at 301-766-4HCC (4422) or advise@hagerstowncc.edu.

International Transcripts

Students who have attended educational institutions outside the United States will need to have transcripts evaluated by the World Education Services (WES).

The WES evaluation converts educational credentials from any country in the world into their U.S. equivalents. It describes each certificate, diploma or degree that you have earned and states its academic equivalency in the United States. http://www.wes.org

The Army/American Council on Education Registry Transcript System (AARTS)

AARTS is a computerized transcript system that produces official transcripts for eligible soldiers upon request by combining a soldier's military education and job experience with descriptions and college credit recommendations developed by the American Council on Education (ACE). In addition to name and SSN, the transcript contains the following information:

  • Current or highest enlisted rank
  • Military status (active or inactive)
  • Additional Skill Identifiers (ASI) and Skill Qualification identifiers (SQI)
  • Formal military courses
  • Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) held
  • Standardized test scores
  • Descriptions and credit recommendations developed by ACE

The AARTS Transcript is free to all soldiers.
