MAP-205 Diagnostic Lab Procedures For the Medical Assistant
Discipline:
Medical Assistant (MAP) This course is designed to introduce the student to point-of-care testing performed in the physician office laboratory. Topics include safety and regulatory guidelines, introduction to the medical laboratory, specimen collection and processing, CLIA-waived hematology, serology, and chemistry testing, basic microbiology, and electrocardiograms. Medical scrubs required. Total of 30 hours of lecture and 30 hours of laboratory. Students must receive a grade of “C” or better in all required MAP and PLB courses prior to registering for this course. Course fee required. Prerequisites: MAP 110, MAP 102, and BIO 110. Semesters offered: Fall, Spring. 3 Credits.
