PED-223 Sports Officiating—Baseball/Softball
Discipline:
Physical Education (PED) This course provides instruction specific to the art of officiating. The fundamentals and positioning of officials are discussed and analyzed. The rules as developed and written by the National Federation of High Schools are studied and interpreted. Conditioning for officials will be emphasized along with the safety responsibilities of the official at the game site. Laboratory sessions will cover the various responsibilities of the referee and umpire and other necessary duties common to all Baseball officials. Students will have the opportunity to become certified in the local officials association by passing the NFHS Exam. Course fee required. 45 contact hours. Semester offered: Periodically. 3 Credits.
