Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Certificate
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a medical imaging modality
that provides physicians with sectional images of the body. Using
magnets, radio waves and specialized computers, images are obtained
that demonstrate internal anatomical features in anatomical planes.
A nation-wide shortage of radiologic and specifically, MR imaging
technologist exists. Successful completion of program requirements
will assist in fulfilling the requirements for the American Registry
of Radiologic Technologists’ national certification examination
in magnetic resonance imaging. This program is open to currently
ARRT-certified radiographers, and students currently enrolled in
the A.A.S. radiography program or meet ARRT educational requirements
for certification. Health care practitioners whose basic educational
program was at least two years in length, and who hold their respective
licensure or certification, may be considered for this program.
Students enrolled in the MRI program are required to meet the same
academic, physical and technical standards as students admitted
to the radiography program. In addition, the student must possess
a current CPR card and, if applicable, a current American Registry
of Radiologic Technologist certification and appropriate state licensure.
For specifics, contact the program coordinator.
