Paramedic Emergency Services

The paramedic emergency services program is for individuals seeking a career as a paramedic and those wishing to transfer to a four-year degree program. The curriculum consists of specialized courses as well as general education offerings. The program includes classroom, hospital, clinical and field instruction, and is based on the U.S Department of Transportation standards. Paramedic students must maintain a grade of "C" or better in all required courses and provide appropriate health records, including a negative TB test within one year. Students must also have current healthcare provider CPR and meet the program's technical standards. Prospective students should request a copy of the health sciences booklet. Individuals successfully completing this program will be eligible for recommendation to sit for the National Registry of EMT Paramedic Examination. This program is competitive. Selection into the program is based on GPA, experience, personal interview, references, application and skills assessment. Students are responsible for additional fees for specialty courses.

This program prepares students to sit for the National Registry Written and Practical Examination and state licensure as Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic. The curriculum is divided into several areas of study and experience and consists of lecture, laboratory, clinical experience, and field experience. Emphasis is placed on the knowledge and skills of the paramedic to meet the needs of individuals in times of an emergency.

The Prehospital Basic Life Support program prepares students for work in the Emergency Medical Services field. Students who complete this program are eligible to sit for the Maryland and National Registry certification tests. The curriculum is divided into several areas of study and experience and consists of lecture, laboratory, clinical experience, and field experience. Emphasis is placed on the knowledge and skills of the EMT to meet the needs of individuals in times of an emergency.
