Nine local high school students receive HCC scholarship

The Faculty Foundation Scholarship for Academic Excellence is a tuition scholarship that is available to a student who has a 3.2 or greater grade point average in each of the seven county high schools and one other high school in the tri-state area, including private and parochial schools.

HCC student accepted to Johns Hopkins

HCC student Mindy Waltz was recently accepted to Johns Hopkins University. Waltz is a science major at HCC and has been attending college since 2005. She is well-known on campus for her dedication and commitment to learning and helping others.

U.S. Air Force Heritage Brass Quintet to perform at HCC

The U.S. Air Force Heritage Brass Quintet was originally formed in 1973 and offers a blend of music that spans more than 350 years, drawing from classical and jazz selections, as well as popular music and patriotic pieces. The quintet's versatility stems from their diverse educational backgrounds and professional experiences.

U.S. Air Force Concert Band and Singing Sergeants to perform at HCC

The U.S. Air Force Concert Band is the largest symphonic wind ensemble in the United States Air Force Band. The Concert Band presents more than 100 concerts annually and performs a wide variety of music from light classics, popular favorites, and instrumental features, to classical transcriptions and original works.

HCC awards 403 degrees and certificates

HCC held its 61st annual commencement on Saturday, May 17, at 9:30 a.m. in the ARCC. HCC President Dr. Guy Altieri and members of the board of trustees presented 403 degrees and certificates before a crowd of more than 2,000.

HCC announces adult education graduates

Hagerstown Community College held its annual Adult Education Commencement ceremony on Sun., May 18, at 2:30 p.m., in the Athletic, Recreation, and Community Center.

HCC honors students’ academic achievements

HCC held its sixth annual Honors Convocation on Thursday, May 15, in the ARCC. The event recognized special awards, Phi Theta Kappa membership, graduation honors, Maryland Zeta Chapter of Lambda Nu for Radiological Sciences membership, and dean’s list honors.

HCC offers Great Falls C&O Canal boat ride

Hagerstown Community College’s Center for Continuing Education is once again offering a Great Falls C&O Canal boat ride as part its lifelong learning program on Sat., June 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

U.S. Air Force Silver Wings perform at HCC

Silver Wings is a seven-member classic and contemporary country band under the direction of guitarist Master Sergeant Matthew Ascione. Based in the greater Washington D.C. area, the Silver Wings are regularly featured at the U.S. Capitol, the Pentagon, and the White House, and have performed all over the United States.

HCC’s Student Government Association hosts family movie night

HCC's Student Government Association is hosting a family movie night on Fri., May 23, at 7 p.m., in HCC’s Kepler Theater. The movie night will feature the animated family film, “Bee Movie.”
