Students raise money for Children in Need

Students at HCC are hosting a fund-raising event for Children In Need, Inc., on Sat. April 18, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will consist of a miniature golf tournament held at Family Recreation Park in Boonsboro.

HCC offers seminar on safeguarding the elderly

Hagerstown Community College’s Center for Continuing Education will offer a seminar entitled, “Elder Abuse: Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults,” on Friday, April 17, in HCC’s Kepler Theater. The seminar begins at 8:30 a.m. and will last until 4 p.m.

HCC offers seminar on trauma care

HCC’s Center for Continuing Education will offer a seminar entitled, “Trauma Care: Multiple Aspects,” on Thursday, April 2, in The Merle S. Elliott Continuing Education and Conference Center, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

HCC to offer portraiture class

The course will consist of a combination of PowerPoint presentations of master works, studio exercises working from the model, critiques of class work and weekly home assignments. Charcoal is recommended for the first two weeks, after which students will be free to work in other media including oils, acrylics, pastels, or charcoal.

HCC offers courses on fiction writing

Taught by writer, editor, and creative consultant Julie Mooney, the two-hour workshop sessions will cover basic character development, dialogue, plot structure, and more through class exercises, as well as group discussion and critique.

HCC offers notary public course in April

Taught by Joe Cunningham, a National Notary Association certified signing agent, the course will cover the principles of notary public appointment, as well as the correct practices and procedures required to operate within Maryland notary law.
