HCC student wins ITA Computer Scholarship

HCC Information Technology Association 2008- 2009 Computer Scholarship Recipient Brittany Doane was this year's winner of the ITA Computer Scholarship. Doane submitted her application and essay along with other IST/SDE/WEB students. Essays were reviewed and the winner selected by the IST/ConEd Advisory Committee in May 2009. Doane was then awarded a computer system which she helped to build.

Learn to speak Russian at HCC

Hagerstown Community College’s Center for Continuing Education is offering “Introduction to Russian Language and Culture,” on Wednesdays, from Oct. 7 through Nov. 4, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at HCC’s Valley Mall Center.

Introductory sign language courses offered through HCC

The first course in the series, “Sign Language: Basic I,” is offered on Mondays, from Sept. 14 through Nov. 30, from 7 to 9 p.m. This course is a beginning level course designed to help students build vocabulary as they learn the manual alphabet and standard signing techniques.

U.S. Navy Commodores perform

U.S. Navy Commodores

 The Hagerstown Community College Alumni Association will host the U.S. Navy Commodores as part of its annual Red, White and Blue Summer Concert Series, on Sun., Aug. 30, at 4 p.m., in HCC’s Alumni Amphitheater.
     
Known for its high energy performances, the Commodores fuse classic jazz and big band music with the popular music of today and original compositions by its members.
