HCC expands truck driving program

“We have the largest community college program in the state of Maryland,” says John Cavey, HCC coordinator, commercial vehicle transportation. “We graduated 154 students last year and expect that number to continue to grow. With the purchase of this new truck, we now have the capacity to serve even more students.”

Second Chance Scholarship available

P.A.T.T. is offering a $500 scholarship to students attending their second semester at HCC. Essays should be submitted no later than January 31, 2010 and can be sent via e-mail.

HCC receives $74,060 BRAC Grant

The grant will help HCC develop the InnovaBio-MD program, which is an innovative internship program in collaboration with Fort Detrick research agencies, to engage students in actual research projects on HCC's campus.

The winter student art exhibit will feature over 50 students exhibiting a host of artwork including painting, drawing, mixed media sculpture, ceramic sculpture, jewelry, pottery, digital photography, and graphic design prints.

HCC will host its annual winter student art exhibit from Monday, Dec. 14 through Thursday, Dec. 17, in the lobby of the Kepler Theater.

$1000 scholarship available for fall 2010

DE-DC-MD-ASFAA Scholarship

Students must demonstrate financial need, be a full-time student (12 credits or more a semester), have a G.P.A. of at least 2.5, and have earned at least 30 credits prior to the start of the 2010 academic year.

Construction continues on Robinwood Drive

Short Title: 
Robinwood Drive Construction

In the coming weeks, the State Highway Administration will start widening westbound US-40 and northbound Edgewood (Robinwood) Drive. The project should be completed by fall 2010, weather permitting.
