Hagerstown Community College’s music department is hosting a faculty recital on Sun., March 28, beginning at 3 p.m., in HCC’s Kepler Theater.

The event will highlight the recent CD release of Korby Sanders, an adjunct music teacher at the College. Her album, “Winds and Keys” is a collection of classical, romantic, and jazz pieces from a variety of periods. She will be performing with musician Vanessa Candreva, a music teacher at Sewickley Academy in Pittsburgh. Musicians Dave Warner, Paul Melville, Joe Marschner, and Jonas Dawson will also be accompanying.

National Federation of the Blind offers scholarship through HCC

Students at Hagerstown Community College are eligible to apply for the John T. McCraw Scholarship Program. The program includes two scholarships in the amounts of $2,000 and $1,500 and will be awarded to qualified blind students who exhibit academic achievement and community involvement.

HCC debuts Hawkstock 2010 in March

HCC's SGA is sponsoring “Hawkstock 2010,” a new music concert featuring ten local bands over a two-day period, on March 19 and 20. Admission is free for HCC students and staff.

Hagerstown Community College’s Student Government Association (SGA) is sponsoring “Hawkstock 2010,” a new music concert featuring ten local bands over a two-day period.

Hawkstock 2010 will be held on Fri., March 19 and Sat., March 20, at HCC’s Kepler Theater. On Friday, Fallen Sparrow, Major League, Matinee@Midnight, Skyhawk Drive, and Mayweather will perform. On Saturday, Dimestore Profit, Lucas and the Lovelys, Adam Taylor, Better Without You, and Bring Back All will perform.

Mount St. Mary's Transfer Day

On Wed., March 24, a representative from Mount St. Mary's will be on campus to meet with students who are interested in transferring. No appointment necessary

The transfer advisor will meet with students from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Valley Eatery (upper level Career Programs Building).

Have some extra time during Spring Break week? Come see the Terra Cotta Warriors Exhibit at the National Geographic Museum in Washington, D.C. on Wed., March 10!

Cost is $30 each. Fee includes bus transportation, admission to the museum, and a snack on the return home.

The bus will depart HCC at 9 a.m. and will leave Washington, D.C. for Hagerstown at 4 p.m.

Antietam Clean-up

Join in a day of clean-up and conservation on Sat., March 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Groups will be dispatched from the parking lot behind Barefoot Bernie's on Dual Highway to various sites throughout the county in order to pick up trash and debris. One group will also be cleaning up the large area next to Barefoot Bernie's, a large wooded area that is adjacent to Hamilton Run.
