JANUARY

Monday, Jan. 14
Spring classes begin.

Tuesday, Jan. 15
Welcome Back Donuts. Students can stop into the College Center from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. for a back-to-school treat. Sponsored by HCC’s Student Life Committee.

Wednesday, Jan. 16
Men’s Basketball.The Hawks host Chesapeake at 6 p.m. in the ARCC.
Women’s Basketball. The Hawks take on Baltimore at 8 p.m. in the ARCC.

Thursday, Jan. 17
Kinder Konzert. The Maryland Symphony Orchestra performs free for preschool-aged children at 9 a.m. and again at 10:30 a.m. in Kepler Theater.

Welcome Back Pizza. Students can refuel with pizza from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the College Center. Sponsored by HCC’s Student Life Committee.

Sunday, Jan. 20
Men’s Basketball.The Hawks host Allegany at 2 p.m. in the ARCC.

Monday, Jan. 21
HCC closed.

MLK Event.HCC invites the public to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a free event in the ARCC from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Events include age-appropriate workshops, keynote speaker, “I Have a Dream” rendition, lunch, and musical entertainment.

Women’s Basketball. The Hawks host Chesapeake in the ARCC at 6 p.m.

Wednesday, Jan. 23
HCC Spirit Day.HCC students and employees are encouraged to dress in green and white to show support for the Hawk basketball teams. There will be giveaways and drawings in the College Center for those showing their school spirit. Spirit Day is sponsored by Student Life.

Men’s Basketball.The Hawks host College of So. Maryland at 6 p.m. in the ARCC.

Women’s Basketball.The Hawks host Garrett CC at 8 p.m. in the ARCC.

Friday, Jan. 25
Men’s Basketball.The Hawks host Harford at 6 p.m. in the ARCC.

Wednesday, Jan. 30
Men’s Basketball. The Hawks host MC/Rockville at 7 p.m. in the ARCC.

Thursday, Jan. 31
Red Cross Bloodmobile. The Red Cross will be on campus from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the College Center. Please donate.

FEBRUARY

Saturday, Feb. 2
Men’s Basketball.The Hawks take on Cecil at 6 p.m. in the ARCC.

Thursday, Feb. 7
Financial Aid Night.The HCC Financial Aid Department will hold a free seminar for high school students and their parents from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Kepler Theater. The seminar will explain the types of aid available and how to apply for them. Information presented is not specific to HCC, but can apply to any college. Students should pre-register by calling 301-790-2800, ext. 473.

Wednesday, Feb. 13
MarylandCommunity CollegeStudent Advocacy Day. Students are encouraged to join in the important advocacy effort in Annapolis. Transportation will be provided from HCC, leaving at 6 a.m. and returning by mid-afternoon. Please register by calling 301-790-2800, ext. 225, or speak with an SGA officer.

Thursday, Feb. 14
SGA Meets. All HCC students are invited to share their ideas at the student government meeting in the College Center conference room at 3 p.m. Snacks will be provided.

Friday, Feb. 15
Valentine’s Dance.The SGA and Alumni Association team up host the fourth annual Valentine’s Dance in the College Center beginning at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served and a DJ will play music from all eras. The event is free and open to the public, but reservations must be made by Feb. 8 by calling 301-790-2800, ext. 225.

Monday, Feb. 18
Communication Workshop. Students can stop by the College Center conference room at 11:30 a.m. for a workshop presented by the Washington County Community Mediation Center to learn how to talk easier with friends, family, other students, and college staff/faculty. This session is free and sponsored by the SGA/Student Life Committee.

Tuesday, Feb. 19
Billy's Dilemma. In honor of Black History Month, HCC student Tom Spruill and cast will perform excerpts from his play, "Billy's Dilemma," in the College Center Hilltop Grill area at 11:30 a.m.

Thursday, Feb. 21
Magic Show. Take a break from classes to enjoy a free magic show in the College Center from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. This free event is sponsored by the Student Life Committee. For information, call 301-790-2800, ext. 225.

Friday, Feb. 29 – Sunday, March 2
Region XX Tournament. The Hawks host this year’s tournament in the ARCC. Visit www.hagerstowncc.edu/athletics for details.

MARCH

Wednesday, March 5
Gymkana Troupe.The University of Maryland Gymkana Troupe returns to the ARCC at 7 p.m. for another high-energy gymnastic performance. Twenty different acts ranging from traditional gymnastics to circus/acrobatic events will be performed. This is a fun, free event the whole family will enjoy.

Saturday, March 8
Easter Egg Hunt. HCC’s Student Life Committee is sponsoring an Easter Egg Hunt at HCC. The event is free and open to the public. Park in HCC's front parking lots and meet at the College Center. Families must RSVP by March 3 by calling 301-790-2800, ext. 225.

Saturday, March 8 and Sunday, March 9
Washington County Home Builders Show. The Home Builders Association will hold the annual Home Show in the ARCC. For information, call 301-739-0135.

Spring Break.

Flower & Garden Show.The 14th annual Alumni Flower and Garden Show will take place in the ARCC from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $4 for adults, free for children. Admission proceeds benefit the HCC Alumni Association. For information, call 301-790-2800, ext. 346.

Friday, March 28
Tribute Dinner.A tribute honoring Greg Snook for his service to Washington County, will be held in the ARCC beginning at 6:00 p.m. Cost is $125/per person. Proceeds benefit HCC student scholarships. For information, call 301-790-2800, ext. 348.

Sunday, March 30
Marionette Show.The National Marionette Theatre presents “Peter and the Wolf” at 3 p.m. in Kepler Theater. This event is free and open to the public.

APRIL

Saturday, April 5
Ali Ghan Shrine Circus.Shows are at 1:30 and 5:30 p.m. in the ARCC. Tickets are free for children under 12, $10 for adults at the door or $8 in advance. Call 301-722-5970 for more information.

Thursday, April 10
SGA meets.The SGA invites all students to meet in the College Center conference room at 3 p.m.

Monday, April 14 through Friday, April 18
Spring Fling.Look for fun activities in and around the College Center all week. Sponsored by the Student Life Committee.

Saturday, April 19 & Sunday, April 20
Quilt Show. Sponsored by the Friendship Quilters Guild. Proceeds benefit HCC student athletes.

Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26
Spring Musical.The Robinwood Players will perform in Kepler Theater at 8 p.m. Tickets are $7, general admission, free for HCC students and employees. Advance tickets will be sold at the HCC Bookstore.

MAY

Thursday, May 15
Honors Convocation. HCC students will be recognized for outstanding performance at 7 p.m. in the ARCC

Saturday, May 17
Commencement.The graduation ceremony for the class of 2008 begins at 9:30 a.m. in the ARCC.

Nurses’ Pinning. The Nurses’ Pinning Ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. in the ARCC.

Sunday, May 18
Adult Education Commencement. The graduation ceremony for Washington County’s Adult Education program will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the ARCC.

HCC Information Session and Tours will be held at 10 a.m. every Friday and the last Thursday of every month at 5:30 p.m., except on days the College is closed. All sessions begin in the College Center.
