Several HCC students will be competing in Teen Idol 2014, a singing competition sponsored by the Washington County Free Library, Maryland Theatre and After Five Productions. This event  fosters a deep appreciation for musical talent in our area and promotes teen programs at the library. It is a great honor to be selected and the winner will receive a $1,000 prize.

HCC students competing include Rachel Babylon, Jacob Kelley, and EJ Boutieller.

HCC's Alumni Association is sponsoring a spring bus trip to New York City on Saturday, April 12, 2014. Attendees can spend the day exploring NYC. This trip is open to current students, alumni, and faculty and staff.

A special art show featuring work by faculty members at Hagerstown Community College will be on display from February 28 through March 25 at the Washington County Arts Council, located at 34 South Potomac Street in Hagerstown.

A Renewable Energy Workshop, "Beyond Incentives and Rebates," will be held on Feb. 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Brooks Science Complex at Wilson College.

Admission is free for any student with a student I.D. Non-students can pre-register for $20 (includes lunch) or can pay $10 at the door on the day of the workshop (does not include lunch).

Keynote speaker will be John Christensen. Special interest topics include:

Students who are Maryland residents are encouraged to complete their FAFSAs by March 1, 2014, to get state aid. HCC encourages all students to complete a FAFSA as most scholarships require that one be completed. 

NYC Bus Trip

The HCC SGA and Robinwood Players Theater Club is hosting a chartered bus trip to New York City on Sat., Feb. 15. Attendees will visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art and have the opportunity to take a special tour of the Rockefeller Collection of Arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas. Following the tour, attendees can explore the sights and sounds of NYC.

The HCC NOW Club is sponsoring a field trip to the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, Feb. 2.

The bus will leave campus at 10 a.m. and return at 6:30 p.m.This trip is free for HCC students and staff/faculty, but reservations are required. To reserve your seat, email Linda Smith at lmsmith@hagerstowncc.edu. Deadline to register is Friday, Jan. 24.
