HCC's Student Government Association will hold a special event, Disability Awareness Zone, on Wed., March 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Student Center. This event features speakers, information tables and activities that bring awareness to mental, physical, and emotional disabilities. The Department of Rehabilitation Services (DORS), the ARC of Washington County, and the Special Olympics will have information tables set up at the event.

ROCK OUT for AUTISM AWARENESS, Friday, March 23, 8 to 11 p.m., in the Student Center. This event features local bands Ascension, The Drummer Quits and Fallen Sparrow. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted for local charities: Providing Relief for Autistic Youth, Inc. and STAR Community Inc. Concessions will be sold. Join HCC advisor Chris Baer for a FREE workshop about how to get the most out of the College Transfer Fair coming up March 1. Chris will review how to start the transfer process, talk about what questions to ask to be sure you find the right fit in a 4-year school, and take your questions about the transferring. The Student Government Association will hold the annual Student Valentine’s Dance on Friday, Feb. 10, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the Student Center. This year’s theme is “It’s a Love/Hate Kinda Thing!” – so whether you are head-over-heals in love, or think love stinks – this is your place to celebrate. Admission is free for HCC students with ID and one guest age 16 or older. Dress is come-as-you-are. There will be a professional DJ playing dance music, mushy love songs & anti-love songs; great food; and lots of fun activities and prizes throughout the night.

An HCC Day-Long Pigskin Party takes place in the Student Center on Thursday, Feb. 2, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Get psyched up for Sunday’s big game by joining in the fun at the Student Center. There will be a day-long Madden 12 video game tournament (10 a.m. to 8 p.m.), free lunch in the Hilltop Grill featuring SOUP in BOWLS beginning at 11:30 a.m., and a friendly game of flag football at 2:30 (weather permitting – meet in the Student Center lobby). PLUS, it’s JERSEY DAY!
