Computed Radiology is a digital imaging technology that allows the use of conventional analog mammography equipment with many of the same rules that apply to the film/screen based systems. However, there are some differences as it relates to image acquisition, image QA and overall workflow. This program will introduce the fundamentals of Computed Radiology Mammography. The FCRm reader system converts the analog signal to digital information to be displayed on a workstation with FDA cleared monitors for diagnostic interpretation and can be stored in a digital archive. The image can also be printed as a hardcopy on film using an FDA cleared printer.
Also reviewed with be Computer aided detection software that helps Radiologists detect more cancers earlier. The development of the technology, algorithms, and clinical studies will also be discussed. Discussion about the DMIST study, the results, and how this study has changed the delivery of mammography services in the United States will be presented.
Program Objectives:
