Deb Bauer
Transportation Safety Specialist, Motorcycle Safety Instructor since 2003
Deb is the person to call if you have questions or concerns at ANY time! Deb has been an instructor for 7 years now, and just loves to teach people how to ride motorcycles. She's been riding for over 20+ years and has owned all types of bikes - from small and large cruisers, dirt bikes, and her favorite L-twin sportbikes. There isn't a bike she won't ride! In her spare time, she's a huge Hagerstown Suns fan and is a season ticket holder in the "Third Base Rowdies" section!
Cory Eyler
Range Support, Motorcycle Safety Instructor since - well - FOREVER!!
Cory provides range support, and is the person to contact if a student has concerns or questions AFTER they complete the course. He has been riding over 40 years and been working in the motorcycle safety program in Maryland for 23 years. Now that's experience! Cory says he finds teaching this program both challenging and fun, and particularly enjoys helping others reach their goals. He states: "I am looking forward to the 2010 season with the same eagerness as I did when first certified. His motto: BE SURE YOUR BRAIN IS ENGAGED BEFORE PUTTING THE BIKE IN GEAR!"
Ken Conway
Motorcycle Safety Instructor since 2009
Ken has been an instructor for a little over a year now. He started riding motorcycles in 1976 but took a break for a few years. Ken got back on in 2003 and has been riding ever since. He's a retired mechanical engineeer, so he's always looking at ways to make things better! Yes, he's wearing a motorcycle helmet running the snowblower - when you see him, ask him why!!
Dale Cooper
Motorcycle Safety Instructor since 2004
Dale has been riding motorcycles since age 12 and has over 2 million miles riding experience. His background in motorcycle safety goes back as far as 1975 when he was the Motorcycle Safety Advisory Officer for the Naval Air Station, Norfolk and Patuxent River, Md. He resides in Hagerstown with his beloved “value dog” Anni. By the way, that picture was taken at 7:30am - and he's smiling!
Paul McNaughten
Motorcycle Safety Instructor since 2003
Paul likes the challenge of teaching basic motorcycle safety because the rewards of teaching the student a safe knowledgeable start to a great sport. He has been riding on and off road for 35 years and currently enjoys riding long distance on his Honda Gold Wing as well and shorter more dirty rides on his Suzuki DR 650 dual sport. Paul is a riding nut, and will ride just about any chance he gets!
Dave Burkholder
Motorcycle Safety Instructor since 2001
2010 marks Dave’s 9th year as an instructor in Maryland. He started riding dirt bikes in 1970 and has been a licensed rider since 1978. Dave is a software engineer by trade, but his true loves are cooking, and riding / wrenching on motorcycles. His retirement plans include opening “Meals and Wheels”, a combination BBQ restaurant and motorcycle repair shop in the Smoky Mountains. Dave’s owned and operated all different types of bikes in his riding career. His current rides include a Suzuki SV650 and a Honda Goldwing.
Randall Williams
Motorcycle Safety Instructor since 2010
Randall moved to Maryland from Colorado two years ago, and tells me that this is his first official teaching position. Randall has over 38 years of riding experience, and loves to restore old bikes to new, and travel to many major bike events (4-Corners Rally, Sturgis, and Dayton) Randall worked for Harley-Davidson for 10 years, resigning as Sr. Master Service Technician. Randall has a big motorcycle riding goal - complete "the ride" through every State of the US. Good Luck!
Spencer Lawton
Motorcycle Safety Instructor since 2010
Spencer has been riding motorcycles since he was a teenager, and now starts into a new phase of his riding career as a motorcycle safety instructor. If you have Spencer as an instructor, get ready to laugh - he's our resident comedian. Spencer currently rides a Harley, but he'll often been seen zipping around town on a beautiful red italian bike - but he'll never admit it! Spencer is a big Suns baseball fan, too. You'll often catch him sitting on the third base side giving the players a lot of grief!
Shawn McClain
Motorcycle Safety Instructor since 2010
Shawn is one of our newest instructors here at HCC. He has been riding motorcycles for about 40 years. In his spare time (re: full time job) he is a designer/consultant for a stair and railing manufacturer. Shawn is originally from Harrisburg, Pa. and rides a 2007 HD Electric Glide Classic. Shawn is another instructor that likes to take long trips and travel all over USA on his motorcycle and has been an AMA member for 15 years. Shawn is fluent in sign language, so if you are too – strike up a conversation!
