Fundamentals of Electricity

This course has been designed for those students who need an understanding of electrical principles and applications but do not need the theoretical or mathematical depth required for electronic circuit design. Course topics include an understanding of both DC and AC circuits. Lab exercises deal with many of the practical applications of electricity along with learning to use test equipment for the purpose of circuit diagnosis and troubleshooting. (Textbook required)

Electricity: Master Exam Prep

Prepare for the Master Electrician exam offered by the Maryland Board of Master Electricians. The course will cover layout of the National Electrical Code and understanding code terminology. Students must bring a 2011 National Electrical code book. (Textbook required).

Introduction to PLC

For individuals in the industrial or manufacturing sector, master the beginning concepts for programmable logic controllers (PLCs). The course introduces students to the Allen Bradley SLC-500 and PLC-5, A.I. Series, and RSLogix software. Topics include standard relay-type instructions, timers, counters, sequencers, move instructions, and arithmetic operations. This is a hands-on course ideal for electricians, technicians, and engineers who wish to upgrade their skills. Prerequisite: Intro to Personal Computing or equivalent computer experience.
