Beginning Loom Knitting Basic Hat

Learn how to make a hat for children and adults using a circle loom in this two part class. You will need to supply on your own and bring to class:1 skein of # 5 or #6 yarn, one medium 9 1/2 in or large 11 1/2 in circle loom and loom hook (with the set of four you can make hats for the whole family), a tape measure, yarn needle, scissors, stick markers and row counter.

Beginning Crochet "Granny Square"

You will learn basic stitch techniques to complete and attach several granny squares in this two-part class. You will need to supply on your own and bring to class: three skeins of Red Heart super saver yarn in three different colors of your choice, one size I or J crochet hook, a tape measure, yarn needle, scissors, stick markers, and row counter.

Beginning Crochet Infinity Scarf

You will learn basic stitch techniques to complete a scarf in this two-part class. You will need to supply on your own and bring to class: one skein #4 yarn (approx. 140 yds.), one size K crochet hook, a tape measure, yarn needle, scissors, stick markers, and row counter.

Introduction to Sewing

Starting with hand sewing, this course will familiarize the beginner with all the techniques needed to create simple garments or home decorating projects from commercial patterns. A field trip to a fabric store is included in one of the sessions. Students will need to bring a sewing machine to class, except for the first class on hand sewing. Students will need to purchase The Singer Complete Photo Guide to Sewing prior to class. Each student will also need a pair of sewing scissors, pins, and a measuring tape. Other equipment may be necessary, depending on the student's choice of project. Equipment may be purchased during the field trip to a sewing store. This course is intended for beginning sewers with little to no experience.

Advanced Basic Sewing

A continuation of Beginning Sewing, this course guides the student through the completion of that crucial first project. All of the essential information and skill-building needed to make an attractive piece of clothing, or home accessory, will be covered in this course. Students will need to bring a sewing machine to each class meeting. Additionally, students need to bring a pair of sewing scissors, pins, and a measuring tape. Other materials may be necessary, depending on the student's choice of sewing project. The textbook for this course (purchased by students) is The Singer Complete Photo Guide to Sewing.

Learn the Heritage Craft of Chair Caning

Learn to repair your rocking chairs, foot stools, and dining room chairs. This course will teach you how to restore these wonderful pieces back to their original woven beauty. You will learn the many hands-on techniques in the weaving process needed to restore the piece back to its original splendor. You will also have the opportunity to create your own woven seat on a small stool or work on an existing project as a way of learning the chair caning techniques. Reward your children and grandchildren with a hand woven gift that will last a lifetime. Materials may be purchased from the instructor. Bring a bucket, scissors, towel, measuring tape, pencil, one dozen clothes pins, and paper to class.
