History of Opera-Classical

A mystical forest. A tempting gingerbread house. Two imaginative siblings embark on a precarious adventure to find something to eat when their fortunes turn for the worst. This enduring fairytale of lost children, candy sweets and an evil witch comes to life in an enchanting production of Engelbert Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel a nineteenth-century opera admired for its fun and folk-music-inspired themes, including the famous, Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. Lectures will be held on Saturday 9/20 and 9/27 from 10:00AM-12:00PM in the Kepler Theater. Participants may choose to attend one the following performances as part of their class session. 9/28 Sunday Matinee, 3:00pm 10/4 Saturday, 7:30pm 10/5 Sunday Matinee, 3:00pm All performances will be held in the Kepler Theater.

Beginning Bluegrass Banjo

This course is for beginner banjo players, no prior experience or very little experience needed. Students are taught to play by ear, no music or tablatures are used. Students learn traditional bluegrass tunes.

Summer Bluegrass Jamming

Can you strum a song using G, C, F, D, A and E? Do you envy those people that can jump into any jam session? Join us Monday evenings for this beginner's jam that instructs you in song lyrics, taking breaks, and just plain jamming fun. If you have always wanted to try joining a jam session, this is your chance. The course is led by Ernie Bradley, well-known band leader and instructor. Acoustic guitars, banjos, mandolins, bass, dobro, and fiddles welcome. There are 3 levels of participation available at each jam session: 1. Learning to hear and play chord changes 2. Sing and play 3. Sing, play, and take a beginning level break.
