Introduction to Stained Glass Beginners
Join Mary Lemen, a stained glass artist and owner of The Glass Loft, for this introductory course in the art of stained glass: the copper foil method. The sessions will cover cutting glass, foiling, pattern assembly, soldering and framing your sun catcher. This class will be the basis for future advanced classes. Course fee includes the use of tools and all materials needed to complete your project. Please bring safety glasses, a dust mask and latex gloves to the first class session. These items may be purchased at any hardware store and will be necessary for participation in this class. Mary has been working with stained glass for 18 years and looks forward to sharing her knowledge with you! (Students must be 18 years or older. Due to exposure to lead, pregnant women are advised not to participate in this class.)

Introduction to Stained Glass the Lead Came Method
Join Mary Lemen, stained glass artist and owner of The Glass Loft, for this introductory course in the lead came method of stained glass construction. In the lead came method, pieces of stained glass are embedded into the channels of the came and the joints between the came strips soldered together. Class sessions include: cutting glass, cutting and soldering lead came to build a stained glass panel. You will need to provide safety glasses, a dust mask and latex gloves. Course fee includes the use of tools and most of the materials needed to complete your project. Extra items you may want to use such as bevels or jewels will be available for purchase in the class session. Instructor Mary Lemen has been working with stained glass for 18 years and looks forward to sharing her knowledge with you! Students must be 18 years or older. Smalti Part I: Introduction to Byzantine Glass
Smalti is the original glass mosaic material, used to create mosaics for over 2000 years. It's ideal for a variety of applications, indoors and out. Italian smalti's strong, intense color and fascinating texture make it particularly suited for fireplace surrounds, back splashes, mirrors, picture frames, panels, murals, and other decorative items. In the first session you will create a picture frame and learn several methods of laying original Italian Smalti.

Smalti Part II: Byzantine Glass
In this class you will use the tools and method from class one to create a beautiful Smalti panel. You will learn placement of the smalti to shade and add depth to your art work. Fee includes all materials.
