Washington, D.C., Genealogy Research Trip

Spend a full day researching your ancestry at either the Daughters of the American Revolution Library or the National Archives in Washington, D.C. Before the trip, you will have an opportunity to discuss your research goals with the instructor, who will make a recommendation as to which resource would be best for you to visit for the day. Lunch is on your own but may be purchased within walking distance of all facilities. Registration includes transportation to and from D.C.

Washington, D.C., Escape

Join your friends as you travel to Washington for a day to relax and explore all your favorite museums on the Mall in complete leisure. The motor coach will drop you off and pick you up at the Smithsonian Castle, allowing for plenty of exploration time in one or more of the historic museums on the Mall or shopping. Fee includes: fully-equipped motor coach transportation and gratuity. Departure is from the Valley Mall.

Chestertown Downrigging Festival

Head to the beautifully preserved historic seaport of Chestertown, Md., for a day full of ships, schooners, and wooden boats! Explore boats on display and enjoy historical reenactments, lectures, and music performances throught the day. Enjoy lunch on your own at a neighborhood restaurant or from one of the festival?s food trucks. Registration includes motor coach transportation and admission to the festival.

Chestertown Downrigging Festival and River Cruise

Battlefields of Maryland Campaign Trip

Journey to the battlefields of the Maryland Campaign - South Mountain, Harpers Ferry, and Antietam - for a guided tour of the campaign's troop movements, military strategy, and key turning points. Registration includes transportation to and from all three battlefields from HCC's main campus. Lunch will be on your own in Harpers Ferry. Get the most out of the tour by first taking our two-part class titled The Maryland Campaign of the Civil War!

Newseum: Investigating Free Press and The First Amendment

Experience the story of news, the role of a free press in major events in history, and how the core freedoms of the First Amendment ? religion, speech, press, assembly and petition ? apply to your life! Your visit to the Newseum in Washington, D.C., includes a one-hour program on Free Press in America and plenty of time to explore exhibits such as the Berlin Wall Gallery, whose eight concrete sections are one of the largest displays of the original wall outside Germany, and the Pulitzer Prize Photographs Gallery, which features photographs from every Pulitzer Prize?winning entry dating back to 1942. Enroute to the Newseum, Roger Swartz will talk about the history and importance of the First Amendment. Registration includes admission, transportation via motor coach, and the Free Press in America program. Enjoy lunch on your own in the Newseum's cafe.
