Stained Glass: a Study of
Mosaics
Join Mary Lemen stained glass
artist and owner of The Glass Loft for a new class in the art of Mosaics. Mosaics is the art of decoration with small pieces of
colored glass, stone or other material. In this new class, instructor Mary
Lemen will teach both the direct and indirect Mosaics methods. The direct
method of mosaic construction involves directly placing the individual pieces
onto the supporting surface. The construction of a serving tray will be the
direct method project for the first three sessions. In this process glass is
will be cut, placed and grouted to create a mosaic serving tray. The next three
weeks will focus on the indirect method. In the indirect Mosaic method pieces
are applied face-down to a backing paper using an adhesive, and transferred to
the project. The indirect project will be a glass brick in which the glass is
cut, placed into a mold then cemented. With the knowledge of these methods you
can create table tops, stepping stones, and floor or wall mosaics. The
possibilities are endless. The Materials Fee includes all materials to complete
both projects and use of tools. You will need to provide a dust mask, rubber or
latex gloves, and safety glasses. Please bring these items to the first class
session. These items may be purchased at any hardware store and will be
necessary for participation in this class. Please dress for work or bring a

Kindermusik ABC Music and
Me—Ages 3 and 4, Part 2
Join instructor Shonelle Strausbaugh for this new Kindermusik class “ABC Music and Me” Part 2. This new program will allow your growing preschooler some independence, while still allowing the parent or caregiver to join their child to participate in the last 10 minutes of class. This session designed for children 3-4 years of age with accompanying parent or caregiver, will have 2 themes: “Down on the Ground” and “Splash!” The “Down on the Ground theme uses children’s love of critters and outdoors to talk about things that live, grow, scurry and bounce around down on the ground. Children will sing, rhyme, gesture and move to a variety of activities, while they explore the theme “I love to observe the world around me. I can imitate sounds and movement.” The Splash theme is a trip to the beach, river and bathtub! Children will explore the sounds, sensations, movements, and music of all things wet and bubbly while they explore the theme “I’m learning to understand the world through opposites. I can think in 3’s.” At home materials: The “Down on the Ground” Home Kit includes a Family Guide and Home CD. The Family Guide details what a child learned in the classroom, suggests home activities and games to continue learning at home. The Home CDs include all the songs from the class and a narration of stories includ
