Bus/Charter Request Form

All requests must be reviewed first by the CVT department. Providing an HCC bus is available, they will schedule and confirm your request. If the CVT department cannot fill the request due to requirements or availability, the requestor will be notified as ‘approved for outside charter.' At the same time, CVT will forward the details onto to begin the quotation process for an outside charter.

Commercial Vehicle Transportation Specialist (CDL Class A)

This skills-oriented program leads to a commercial vehicle transportation specialist certificate and is for those individuals seeking a career in professional truck driving. The curriculum consists of classroom, skills, and field instruction and is based on industry recognized skill standards. Successful students will be eligible to test for a Class A commercial Drivers License with air brakes, combinations, doubles/triples, tankers, and hazardous materials endorsements, as well as the Defensive Driving Certification. This program has a 98 percent pass rate through the state CDL testing facilities as well as a job placement rate in excess of 95 percent. Interested individuals must have a valid driver’s license from Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, or Virginia, and must have a Department of Transportation physical examination and drug screen. Commercial Transportation Management

The certificate is designed for the individual who is working in the movement of raw materials and freight to manufacturing, warehousing, and retail facilities. Successful students will be prepared for the following job titles: distribution manager, traffic manager, truck driver dispatcher, logistics salesman, freight-forwarder. Students who currently possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) may petition to receive college credit for previous licensures and experiences. Students may choose either Track I or Track II to earn this certificate. Commercial Transportation Administration

This degree is for students interested in the movement of raw materials and freight to manufacturing, warehousing, and retail facilities. Students will also examine the outside forces that influence business and management, and consider the responsibilities of business and management in society. Upon completion of this program students will be prepared for the following job titles: distribution manager, traffic manager, truck driver, dispatcher, logistics salesman, freight-forwarder, supervisor, administrator, manager, general manager of transportation and logistics, and director. HCC truck driver program receives federal grant

(Release: October 1, 2012) -Hagerstown Community College’s commercial vehicle transportation (CVT) program has received a $75,000 grant from the U.S. Dept. of Transportation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. The grant will be used to create scholarships, providing 50 students with a tuition/fees discount to complete HCC’s truck driver training program.
