English and Humanities Division


HCC's Dance program is designed to offer students who plan to transfer to a four-year college as dance majors the opportunity to develop foundational skills in concert dance technique, performance, improvisation, composition, and audition in order for them to succeed in upper division dance courses. Core dance courses provide training and practice in the essential areas of dance listed above, as well as extensive exposure to a diverse array of dance studies and contemporary dance practices. Auditions for Little Women: The Musical

Auditions will be held for HCC's spring production of Little Women: The Musical on Wednesday, November 18th at 7 p.m. in the Kepler Center.

Students must prepare 32 bars from a musical theater song in the style of the show. Come with music clearly marked for an accompanist. Be prepared to cold read, dance, and learn/sing music from the show.

Winter Student Art Exhibit

The Winter Student Art Exhibit will be held from Wednesday, December 2, through until Friday, December 11. The exhibit will feature a variety of artwork including painting, drawing, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, mixed media, and photography. An opening reception will be held on Friday, December 4, from 6 to 8 p.m., in the Kepler Center.

Edgar Allan Poe Show

HCC is partnering with the Maryland Entertainment Group to present professional Edgar Allan Poe impersonator Todd Loughry on Friday, October 16 at 8 p.m. in the Kepler Center. The show is free for HCC students and staff and will be $10 for the public.

An Afternoon of Song and Dance

Come spend an afternoon being entertained by HCC’s dance and musical theater students. This concert features classical ballet, up-tempo jazz and tap numbers, modern and contemporary dance, as well as vocal performances from HCC Musical Theater students. This event is free to all and open to the public.
