Student Center Expansion Project

HCC broke ground on its Student Center expansion on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014. The $15 million dollar project will add an additional 29,229 sq.ft. to the existing 19,000 sq.-ft. Student Center and will feature enhanced student lounge areas, study spaces, and meeting rooms for campus clubs. An additional 10,000 sq.-ft. outdoor patio and recreation area will also be included as part of the renovation, bringing the total square footage of the indoor and outdoor areas to more than 59,000 sq.ft. In addition, existing student services offices and departments will be expanded including the HCC Campus Store, the Student Activities Office, the Dean of Students Office, and the TRiO Student Support Services Office. The Hilltop Grill, the Student Center eatery, will be enlarged from its current seating capacity of 60 to 300 and will also include a new coffee bar and café. Outdoor dining and activity space will be enhanced with the addition of sand volleyball court off the patio. New smart device charging stations and video walls will make it easier for students to stay plugged-in to campus life. A student walkway will also be installed on the second floor of the Learning Resource Center, or LRC, allowing students to walk directly to the Student Center from the college library. Morgan-Keller Construction is the construction firm that was awarded the project, which is scheduled to be completed in fall 2015.

Construction Updates & Campus Improvement Projects

Learn more at www.hagerstowncc.edu/student-center. Campus Store Relocation The HCC Campus Store has been relocated to the Robinwood Center on HCC's campus. The Robinwood Center is the stone building located near the Career Programs Building. Temporary, 30-minute parking for Campus Store use is available in Lot C. The Campus Store will remain in this location until the renovation of the Student Center has been completed. Renovation began in fall 2014. View the Campus Map. Roundabout on Robinwood Drive As part of a road improvement project, the intersection at the front of the HCC campus is being converted into a roundabout. Construction is now occurring on Robinwood Drive between Meritus Medical Center (Medical Campus Road) and HCC. The construction will continue through January 2015. Tips for HCC students     Plan for delays and allow extra time to get to class     Try to find an alternate route that will avoid the congestion between Meritus Medical Center and HCC     Enter Robinwood Drive from Jefferson Blvd. (Route 64) if possible Stay Informed HCC will post construction updates that specifically impact campus (such as work being done to the college entrance) on this page, as well as on HCC's official Facebook and Twitter pages. Construction updates posted on social media sites (by HCC and Washington County) will use the #rwproject and #rwtraffic hash tags. Fall 2014 Updates Single-lane roadwork on Robinwood Drive on Tuesday, Nov. 11, and Wednesday, Nov. 12, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., between Medical Campus Road and John F. Kennedy Drive. Road crews will be grinding pavement on the roadway. Please allow extra time to get to the HCC campus. Single-lane roadwork on Friday, Nov. 7, between 8:30 and 5 p.m., on Robinwood Drive between Medical Campus Road and JFK Drive. Road crews will be installing a sidewalk on the HCC side and will be grinding pavement on the roadway. Please allow extra time to get to campus. Weather permitting, a new traffic pattern will go into effect on the afternoon of Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014. Traffic will be moved to the west side of Robinwood Drive (the same side as HCC). Traffic will remain single-lane.
