The Hagerstown Community College Dental Education Clinic is a teaching clinic that provides preventative dental services to the general public (e.g., cleanings, sealants, x-rays, and fluoride treatments). Services are provided by students in HCC’s Dental Hygiene Program.
Services & Fees
Adult prophylaxis (cleaning), ages 13 and up
Child prophylaxis (cleaning), ages 5-12
Periodontal scaling and root planing
$15/quadrant, $60/entire mouth
HCC students, faculty, and staff prophylaxis (must show HCC ID)
*Fluoride treatment is included with price for prophylaxis/SRP
Dental X-Ray Services
Full mouth x-rays (FMX)
Bitewing x-rays (2 or 4)
Panoramic x-rays (Pan)
*Printed copies of all digital x-rays taken at HCC will be mailed to your dentist free of charge
Patient Home Care products
Athletic mouth guard
Custom fluoride trays
The clinic does not provide services such as braces, gum surgery, bridges or dentures, fillings, or extractions. The clinic does not accept insurance.
How do I make an appointment?
To schedule an appointment, call 240-500-2569. If no one is available to take your call, please leave a message and staff will contact you to schedule an appointment. You can call anytime.
When do students see patients?
Starting January 12, 2015, students will begin seeing patients on Tuesdays between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Should I arrive early?
Yes, it is preferred that you arrive at least 20 minutes early for your appointment to allow time for paperwork.
What do I need to bring with me?
Please bring the following to your appointment:
A list of current medications
Name and phone numbers of your dentist, medical doctor, or any other specialists who are currently treating you
Premedication (if required)
Form of payment (cash, check, or credit card)
HCC students, staff, and faculty should also bring their HCC ID
Can I fill out my paperwork in advance?
While it is preferred that you fill out your paperwork on campus on the day of your appointment, you can also fill out paperwork in advance and mail it to campus prior to your appointment. Once you’ve completed your paperwork, please mail to:

How long will the appointment last?
Each appointment will last approximately four hours. Block appointment times are 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m.
What if I need to cancel?
It is very important that you keep your scheduled appointment as students are relying on these appointments to achieve their graduation requirements. If you do need to cancel, the dental clinic requests that you give notice at least 48 hours in advance of your appointment. If you fail to keep two appointments, you will not be rescheduled for future appointments.
What form of payment is accepted?
The HCC Dental Education Clinic accepts cash, checks, or credit cards. Payment is required before services are rendered. Personal checks are subject to a $35 returned check fee. Please note that the HCC Dental Education Clinic does not accept insurance.
Statement of Patient Responsibilities
As a patient in the HCC Dental Education Clinic, you have responsibilities as well as rights. You have the responsibility to:
Comply with all dental clinic regulations
Share an honest and complete medical and dental history, including information about previous illnesses, hospitalizations, and exposure to communicable diseases; medications and allergies; and current medical care
Follow treatment recommendations and ask questions about anything you do not understand
Keep scheduled appointments and give a minimum 48-hour notice if you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment
Be prompt for your appointments: It is important that students have adequate time to deliver complete care
Be an active participant in the dental care of yourself and your family and ask questions to clarify the nature of your dental health and treatment provided
Contact your personal dentist for regular dental care if you are not selected as a patient or have not been contacted by the time your regular checkup is due
The HCC Dental Education Clinic does not replace your dentist of record. Patients need to seek additional care from their personal dentist. Please note the HCC Dental Education Clinic cannot guarantee regular, periodic cleaning appointments.
