African-American History & Culture Museum Field Trip

Celebrate Black History Month with an HCC bus trip to the African-American History and Culture Museum in Baltimore. Bus leaves HCC at 9 a.m. and returns at 5 p.m. Cost to reserve your seat is $10, which will be returned to you the morning of the trip. Museum admission is free. Reserve your seat at the Student Activities Information Desk, located in the Student Center.

Student Center

The HCC Student Center is currently undergoing renovation. During the renovation, the following offices will remain open: Student Activities Office & Information Desk (IDs & Parking Passes) The Student Activities Office oversees all student activities and campus clubs including the Student Government Association. At the Student Center Information Desk, students can: Get a student ID card and/or semester stickers Check out video game equipment and laptop computers Access WebAdvisor and sign-up for a campus parking permit Get assistance with student email Get fliers and bulletin board notices approved *Note: All fliers and bulletin board content must be approved by the Student Activities Office prior to posting. Student Affairs Office The Student Affairs Office houses the Dean of Students and her executive assistant. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. TRiO Student Support Services TRiO Student Support Services (TRiO SSS) is designed to help students who are low-income, are a first-generation student, or have a disability. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Learn more at Other Services Food Services The Student Center’s in-house eatery, The Hilltop Grill, is closed for renovation, but will reopen in fall 2015. During this transitional period, the hours of the Valley Eatery have been expanded until 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Vending machines are available in the Student Center lobby and include assorted snacks and drinks, a coffee/hot chocolate machine, and a cold vending machine that features pre-made sandwiches, wraps, and other items. Three of the four machines accept credit cards. (Please note that there is a 10-cent transaction fee to use a credit card.) A lounge area is available in the former Campus Store space to the right of the lobby. Full-service dining, including made-to-order sandwiches and wraps, a full-service salad bar, pizza, and specialty entrees, is available in the Valley Eatery, located in the Career Programs Building. For hours and menu information, visit Game Room & Student Lounge The Student Game Room features a large screen HDTV, Xbox and Wii equipment and games, lounge area, and Wi-Fi. The Game Room/Student Lounge is open during the renovation, but has been relocated to the former Campus Store space to the right of the lobby. Campus Store (Bookstore) Until the Student Center renovation is complete, the HCC Campus Store has been relocated to the HCC Robinwood Center, which is located across from the Career Programs Building. Parking is available in Lot C at the front of campus. About the Renovation HCC broke ground on its Student Center expansion on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014. The $15 million dollar project will add an additional 29,229 sq.ft. to the existing 19,000 sq.-ft. Student Center and will feature enhanced student lounge areas, study spaces, and meeting rooms for campus clubs. An additional 10,000 sq.-ft. outdoor patio and recreation area will also be included as part of the renovation, bringing the total square footage of the indoor and outdoor areas to more than 59,000 sq.ft. In addition, existing student services offices and departments will be expanded including the HCC Campus Store, the Student Activities Office, the Dean of Students Office, and the TRiO Student Support Services Office. The Hilltop Grill, the Student Center eatery, will be enlarged from its current seating capacity of 60 to 300 and will also include a new coffee bar and café. Outdoor dining and activity space will be enhanced with the addition of sand volleyball court off the patio. New smart device charging stations and video walls will make it easier for students to stay plugged-in to campus life. A student walkway will also be installed on the second floor of the Learning Resource Center, or LRC, allowing students to walk directly to the Student Center from the college library. Morgan-Keller Construction is the construction firm that was awarded the project, which is scheduled to be completed in fall 2015.
