Regents Scholarship Applications for Transfer Students

Regents Scholarships 2016-17 for Maryland Community College Transfer Students

Deadline to apply is May 16, 2016. If you want to be considered for a nomination by the college, please contact the Student Financial Aid Office or the Academic Advising Office prior to this deadline.

Required Documentation for all scholarships

  1. Nomination letter from the community college president
  2. Scholarship Application
  3. Personal statement of the student's educational and career goals
  4. Official copy of the community college transcript
  5. Unofficial copies or grade slips from all other colleges and universities attended 
  6. Resume or listing of the student's extracurricular and community activities 
  7. Evidence of the student's scholarly and creative activities - limit of two items (can include scanned copies of artwork, photos, creative projects, research papers, published material, honors, awards, etc.)
  8. One or two letters of recommendation from faculty or staff members at the community college
  9. Please do not submit the application items in folders or binders - staples or clips are permitted

Gross Scholarship

  • Earn a 4.0 GPA or higher
  • Complete an Associate's degree
  • FAFSA information is generally used to verify financial need

Kelly Scholarship 

  • Earn a 3.8 GPA or higher
  • Complete a minimum of 56 credits
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Pursue any major leading to a bachelor's degree at any USM Institution

Kelly at the Universities at Shady Grove

  • Earn a 3.8 GPA or higher
  • Complete a minimum of 56 credits
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Pursue any major leading to a bachelor's degree at the USG Center

Weinberg Scholarship for Part-Time Students

  • Earn a 4.0 GPA
  • Complete an Associate's degree
  • Pursue any major for a bachelor’s degree at any USM institution on a part-time basis
  • FAFSA information is generally used to verify financial need

Note

  • Preference will be given to Maryland residents during the scholarship selection process.
  • Students must submit the FAFSA in order to be considered for any of the Kelly Regents Scholarships or Grants.
