Adjunct Instructors

Adjunct faculty are part-time, temporary employees who are hired on a semester basis to teach up to twelve credits.

Adjunct Instructors are currently needed in the following areas:

 

Behavior and Social Sciences/Business Division

  • Administration of Justice - Master's degree in Criminal Justice or related field required and field experience in law enforement to teach a variety of classes from Intro, American Law Enforcement, Police Managment, Criminal Investigation.
  • Political Science - Master's degree required to teach American Government.  Daytime availability is needed and on-line teaching experience is needed. 

 

Continuing Education & Community Services Division

  • Computer Basics/Introduction to Personal Computer for Seniors – day classes, history of senior adult instruction
  • Floral Design/Horticulture – day and evening classes, history in this field and professional history of adult instruction
  • College for Kids – Monday through Friday during months of June & July, elementary /middle/high school instruction with recommendations, emphasis on STEM programming
  • Literature/History – day and/or evening/weekend classes, background in adult education and expertise in one of the above
  • Alternative Energy training - Certified NABCEP Solar Installer or advanced solar PV training credentials
  • Computer Security - Certified in CISSP

  • Tax Issues for Samll to Medium Size Businesses

Developmental Education & Adult Literacy Services Division

  • Math, English and ESL for developmental and Adult Education

Developmental minimum requirements: BA/BS in content area, 2-3 years experience in developmental education.

Adult Education requirements: BA/BS (preferred English, Reading, Special Education, Psychology), 2-3 years experience in Adult Education and/or developmental education.

 

English & Humanities Division

  • English, Speech, Foreign Languages, Arabic and Humanities

 

Health Sciences Division

  • Medical Assisting – day and evening classes, Bachelor’s degree in nursing, health, education, technology related field, must be a certified medical assistant or registered medical assistant or currently eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in MD, minimum 1 year college teaching experience or 3 -10 years related work experience
  • Medical Assisting Externship – daytime hours only, site locations in MD, WV, PA, RN with medical office experience, certified medical assistant or medical office manager with 3 years office experience, preferred teaching experience in medical assisting program

 

Mathematics & Science Division

  • Pharmacy Applications PHR-103 - Spring 2012 semester, evening classes from 4-6pm.  Bachelor's degree and minimum of 2-3 years experience as a pharmacy technician or a pharmacist.
  • Geology, Earth and Space Science, Anatomy and Physiology, General Biology, Human Biology, Microbiology, Pharmacy Technology, Physical Science, Chemistry
  • College Algebra, Statistics, Calculus I

 

Nursing Division

  • Med-Surg, Pediatrics, Obstetrics - Master’s degree required
  • CNA/GNA Lab Assistant - Possess registered nurse license to practice in Maryland, minimum 2 years nursing experience, 1 year in caring for elderly/chronically ill in past 5 years, completion of course with minimum of 16 hours of instruction in principles of adult education, or 2 years of teaching experience
  • CNA/GNA Clinical - Possess registered nurse license to practice in Maryland, minimum 2 years nursing experience, 1 year in caring for elderly/chronically ill in past 5 years, proof of completion of a Maryland Board of Nursing approved Principles of Adult Education course, or 2 years of teaching experience
  • CNA/GNA Theory Instructor - Possess registered nurse license to practice in Maryland, minimum 2 years nursing experience, 1 year in caring for elderly/chronically ill in past 5 years, proof of completion of a Maryland Board of Nursing approved Principles of Adult Education course, or 2 years of teaching experience

 

Physical Education & Leisure Studies Division

  • First Aid – day and evening classes
  • Human Sexuality – day and evening classes
  • Personal Health – evening classes

 

 Technology and Computer Studies

  • Truck Driving - must have current CDL Class A license
  • Industrial Technology, Plumbing - Master Plumber license or higher education and/or equivalent work experience are acceptable.
  • Information Systems Technology - certified in Security +, Net +, CCNA, CISSP, CEH (Certified Ethical Hacking), CSA (Certified Security Analyst), CAP (Certified Accredited Professional)
