Peer Tutor
Submitted by Barbara A. Lease on Tue, 08/09/2011 - 11:45am
Duties: Peer Tutors provide academic support for a variety of subject areas at Hagerstown Community College. Tutors work in group and one-on-one settings to provide content-specific assistance to students who have requested help.
Special skills needed: Tutors are not required to major in the subjects for which they wish to tutor. However, they must demonstrate proficiency in the content areas (via an instructor reference) for which they apply. Ability to tutor multiple subjects is a plus.
Hours per week: Varies
Additional Information: All tutoring and group study sessions take place in one of Hagerstown Community College's learning centers or an otherwise staff- or faculty- approved location on the school campus. When not actively working with students, tutors perform various administrative duties as support staff within the centers.
