Academic Advisor (temporary, part-time) #14-012

The Temporary Academic Advisor works during peak registration periods in direct relationship with the students, advising them in their course selection, and assisting them in exploring potential career and transfer possibilities while in the community college setting.

Please note that this is a temporary position based on the needs of the Advising Office during peak periods and emergencies.  Applications will continue to be accepted for this position in order to obtain an applicant pool for any future needs.

Qualifications: 
Education and experience - Bachelor's degree preferred; some experience working with students in higher education; background in the Maryland and out-of-state transfer articulation system; knowledge and experience with a student database system. Skills and abilities - Interpersonal skills to guide students in their academic decision-making; excellent organizational and planning skills in dealing with the career and transfer student population; advising and communication skills to deal effectively with students, faculty, and staff; database system skills.
