About the artists

Maryland artist R. Benjamin Jones is an accomplished painter who enjoys creating still-life, landscape, and portrait images of everyday life from his native Maryland, Lancaster County, Pa., New England, and other places he has visited. He seeks to portray the gentle beauty of the world in his paintings of delicate flowers, New England streets and harbors, Amish faces, and farm animals. He studied at the Maryland Institute of Fine Arts in Baltimore, the University of Maryland and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. His works have been shown in many galleries and museums including the Lockwood Mathews Mansion Museum in Norwalk, Hurlbutt Gallery in Greenwich, Greenwich Art Society, Greenwich Workshop in Southport, McBride Gallery in Annapolis, The Greenbrier, Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, Baltimore Museum of Arts and The Smithsonian.

David Jones studied photography before engaging in painting and drawing. He began working side-by-side with this father, Ben Jones, in the mid 1980s and credits his father’s critique process with helping him become a better artist. He has learned to render portraits of wildlife with an almost scientific precision, while managing to capture their distinct expressions and personalities. He has been painting professionally for more than 20 years.

Henry T. Jones is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art and long-time artist/educator who began his teaching career as a public school art teacher. He later became an art specialist and supervisor and concluded his teaching experience as an instructor in the Art Education Program at his alma mater, the Maryland Institute College of Art. Now a full-time painter, his interest is focused primarily on landscape painting. Included in the show are works from his recent residency in Rochefort-en-Terre, a small village in Brittany, France.

A portion of the painting sales benefit Hagerstown Community College and its students.
