College for Kids Summer 2011 Instructor Bios

 

Diana Gray

Diana Gray holds a Masters in Reading from Frostburg State University. She has 13 years of teaching experience, and she has taught College for Kids at HCC for the past 8 years. Ms. Gray was nominated for teacher of the year in 2007. She enjoys reading, spending time with her family, vacationing, and gardening.

Matt Wagner

Matt Wagner has been teaching for six years in Washington County. He is a graduate student at Frostburg State. He has taught College for Kids for many years, focusing on the sciences and technologies areas. He enjoys spending time with his family and fishing.

Sheila Mount

Sheila Mount has 13 years of teaching experience (nursery/Kindergarten for 3 years, Grade 3 for 8 years, Reading & Math Intervention for 2 years). She began teaching College for Kids at HCC in 2001. Her hobbies are reading, walking, rubber stamping & scrapbooking, and camping. Her latest interest is snowboarding!

Jeanette Wagner

Jeanette Wagner has taught in the Washington County Public School system for 7 years. She will complete her Masters in Reading degree in December 2008. She has been teaching College for Kids at HCC for 7 years. She enjoys scrapbooking, shopping, traveling, and being with her family.

Anna Hill-Dobbins

Anna Hill-Dobbins has 25 years of teaching experience in the Washington County Public Schools. She has been teaching College for Kids for the past nine years. She likes to read, watch sports, and play bingo.

Janet Young

Janet Young graduated from Shepherd University as a Joseph McMurran Scholar. She loves photography, scrapbooking, and cooking. She has two boxers (Abbey and Max), and she likes to hike with her husband.

Laura Barnes

Laura Jones has ten years of teaching experience. She is an Enrichment teacher at Fountain Rock Elementary. Laura also works part-time at Sylvan Learning Center and is a fitness instructor at Gold's Gym.

Laura Stotler

Laura Stotler has taught at Williamsport Elementary and Clear Spring Elementary. She is a past participant in College for Kids at HCC when she was a kid and has been teaching since 2008. Her favorite part of the class is helping students make their 'All About Me' PowerPoint and sharing them with their familes. She likes to scrapbook and play with her chocolate lab.

Amy Martin

Amy Martin has taught in Washington County for 4 years. She also has experience teaching pre-school in Garrett County. She has been recognized in Annapolis, MD, for winning a classroom grant. She enjoys crafts, reading, spending time outdoors, and spending time with her family.

Marcie Burleson

Marcie Burleson has been a teacher in Washington County for 10 years. She is currently an Enrichment Specialist at Sharpsburg Elementary School. She loves basketball, reading, food, and spending time with her family.

Tara Myers

Tara Myers has 5 years experience as a third grade teacher in Bethesda, MD, and she has 3 years experience as a Student Achievement Specialisht at Potomac Heights ES and Paramount ES. She enjoys tennis, golf, saxophone, reading, and spending time with family.

Jack Drooger (aka Jack Sparrow)

Jack has been involved in technology related projects for almost twenty years. He teaches courses in the classroom and online. Jack is College for Kids' "Team Technology" manager. He holds numerous professional certifications from Microsoft and Cisco. Jack enjoys building and tweaking computers, networking, teaching, and walking the dog.

Noel Carvajal

Noel designed Flash animations for Baltimore County Public Library. He was also the lead programmer and story designer for the game "Wizards of Sirhcia", and he created winter animations for the community during the holiday season. Noel's interests are in computer games, music, movies, and boxing.

Gary Burger Jr.

Gary has 10 years experience teaching second grade in the Washington County school system. He is excited to teach technology. Gary enjoys reading, playing golf, the outdoors, and watching all sports.

Cinnamon Rowland

Cinnamon has taught for 16 years in Washington County. She earned a Music Education degree from Shepherd and a Masters of Liberal Arts from Western MD College. She is a member of Alpha Psi Omega, a National Honorary Dramatic Fraternity. Cinnamon loves to sing, act, and read.

Mary Beth Chaney

This is Mary Beth's third year teaching CFK. She works at HCC as part of the Early Childhood Education and Reading Instruction team. Before coming to HCC, Mary Beth taught prekindergarten through second grade for eleven years. Her interests include helping others, reading, and cars.

Joan Tussing

Joan began teaching CFK in the summer of 2009. She is a high school Biology Teacher at Broadfording Christian Academy and teaches science classes to homeschoolers. She enjoys British literature and acting. She loves seeing the students perform at the end of the week for their parents.

Julie Castillo

Julie started teaching CFK in 2009. She works at five different local community colleges, where she teaches social science, creative writing, and self-discovery. Her hobbies are kayaking, horseback riding, and traveling.

Dawn Drooger

Dawn works at Cedar Ridge Children's Home and Shepherd University. She loves to share her passion for nursing and nuture future caregivers. Her hobbies are reading and riding motorcycles.
