Spring Student Art Show Reception

The opening reception of the annual spring student art exhibit will be held on Thursday, April 25, from 5 to 7 p.m., in the Kepler Center. The jazz ensemble will perform in the Black Box Theater at 7 p.m. The exhibit will feature a variety of artwork including painting, drawing, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, mixed media, and photography.

"Chasing the Dragon" Film & Discussion Panel

HCC students, faculty and staff are invited to a showing of “Chasing the Dragon,” a film highlighting the realities and prevalence of the opioid/heroin epidemic that has swept the country. This documentary will present the problems associated with opioid use and will then be followed by a panel of experts, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Agency, discussing solutions.

Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration

The celebration will feature keynote speaker Dr. Jason Best, from Shepherd University, and a dramatic rendition of Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, performed by the Reverend Darin Mency. The event will include music and dance performances and poetry readings by HCC students. Event free and open to the public.

HCC Ensembles Concert

This concert will be held in the Kepler Theater at 7:00pm, and is free of charge. The HCC Wind Ensemble will be playing selections from Mozart, Pachelbel and Leontovych; the HCC String Ensemble will be playing selections from Bach, Gluck and Boyce; and the HCC Jazz Ensemble will be performing Jazz standards including compositions from Gershwin, Jobim, and Dizzy Gillespie.

The fall student art exhibit will be held from Monday, December 12, through Friday, December 16, in the Kepler Center. This exhibit will feature a variety of student artwork including student photography, painting, drawing, mixed media, sculpture, ceramics and jewelry. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Hench Smith Art Exhibit Reception

Hench Smith, sculptor and mixed media artist, presents "Drone Strike Jesus" - a body of work that questions and confronts America's perception of history and its lack of political memory. The solo exhibit will run from October 15 through November 19 in the Gallery at the Kepler Center for the Arts.
