HCC Foundation announces scholarship programs

Hagerstown Community College announces that scholarship applications for the 2005-2006 academic year are now available for new and returning students in degree programs of study.
Students who currently receive a Foundation scholarship must reapply. One application is available for both the Foundation and Student Financial Aid scholarships. Students must be enrolled for at least six credit hours to apply for the HCC Foundation scholarships and most student financial aid scholarships.

Several scholarships exist within the Foundation, each with varying criteria. The categories include General, Booster Club, Faculty/Foundation Scholarship for Academic Excellence, HCC Alumni Association, Radiography, Nursing, and several others for students in a particular area of study. The following scholarships are new this year:

Mr. and Mrs. Wayne E. Alter, Jr.; American Association of University Women – Hagerstown Branch; D.M. Bowman Truck Driver; Electromet Technical Excellence; Joann Forcino Elliott Memorial; Louise Fiery Elliott Memorial; Merle S. Elliott for Female Athletes; Merle S. Elliott for Male Athletes; Hess-Creager; Bill and Maggie Hetzer for Athletes; John C. Ramer; and Thomas, Bennett & Hunter, Inc. Most scholarships are need based.

Numerous groups and individuals also have scholarships administered through the Student Financial Aid Office.

Contributions made by private individuals, HCC employees, civic groups, businesses, foundations, and corporations make these scholarships possible. Contact your high school guidance counselor or pick up an application from the brochure rack outside of the Student Financial Aid Office located in the Administration and Student Affairs Building.

Submittal deadline is April 22 at 4 p.m. Late applications will not be accepted. For more information, contact the HCC Foundation at 301-790-2800, extension 348, or the Financial Aid Office at extension 473.
