(October 20, 2005) - Hagerstown Community College recently appointed two people to serve key roles in its Career Center. Melissa DuBois was hired as coordinator of career development and workplace learning. Angie Auldridge was named workplace learning and business resource specialist.
As coordinator, DuBois is responsible for overseeing the work of HCC's Career Center, which provides resources and services to students, alumni, and employers. The Career Center offers job placement for HCC's career programs, a student internship program, career development resources, resume and interview skills workshops, recruitments, and job fairs.
"I'm very excited to provide students with a means to explore career options, obtain hands-on job skills, and assist in their employment search," said DuBois. "These efforts allow us to provide employers and the community with well trained, job-ready, highly motivated students."
DuBois has over 11 years of career development and employment services experience within the U.S. and Australia. She most recently served as a project manager with Columbia Healthcare-Arora Group Joint Venture in Gaithersburg, Md.
In her new role, Auldridge acts as the liaison between students in internships and the employers they serve. She handles most of the employer outtreach efforts for the Career Center and maintains the online database of employers and available jobs. Prior to this appointment, Auldridge was an academic advisor for HCC.
HCC uses College Central Network, a Web-based career management system for colleges, universities, and employers. Through this free service, employers can post job openings and internships, access and update job postings, and review student resumes.
