HCC Students win awards at regional competition

(November 10, 2005) - Students from Hagerstown Community College’s Theta Lambda Upsilon (TLU) recently attended an American Criminal Justice Association regional conference in Richmond, Va.

Two TLU members, Bryan Solloso and Stephanie Barber, both of Sharpsburg, earned trophies at the event.

Barber earned a second place trophy in the agility competition for females under age 25. Barber’s time for the test was 1:28, seven seconds under the Virginia state minimum time allowed for cadets to complete the agility test. Barber plans to go into forensic biology.

Solloso received a second place trophy in the police administration written exam. Close to 60 students participated in the written exam competition. Solloso plans to transfer to Frostburg State University. TLU is a chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association, Lambda Alpha Epsilon, which is composed of persons who are employed in an area concerned with the administration of criminal justice, persons enrolled in a program of study in the criminal justice field at a college or university accredited by a recognized national or regional accreditation association, and persons involved in volunteer work directly related to the administration of criminal justice.
