Weddle named interim athletic director at HCC

(January 5, 2006) - Jason Weddle has been appointed interim athletic director at Hagerstown Community College.

“I’m excited about the opportunity that has presented itself,” said Weddle. “I look forward to working with the great coaching and support staff to continue building on the excellent reputation of HCC’s athletic program.”

In this position, Weddle will be responsible for the administration of HCC’s 13 athletic programs, which involve more than 150 student-athletes, and the supervision of four full-time staff members, the coaching staff and student workers. He will also continue to perform some of his duties as athletic trainer.

Weddle began his professional affiliation with Hagerstown Community College in 2001 and most recently held the position of physical education faculty, which included athletic trainer duties for all college athletic teams.

Weddle holds a master’s degree in education with a concentration in exercise physiology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and bachelor’s degree in physical education with a concentration in athletic training from Salisbury State University. He attended HCC as a student for one year. He is a graduate of Boonsboro High School, where he played football and basketball.

Weddle replaces former athletic director Brian Beck, who resigned in December 2005. A search for a permanent athletic director is currently underway. HCC’s athletic program is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association.
