College For Kids watercolor class offered

Hagerstown Community College’s College For Kids summer program is offering a week-long course on painting with watercolors for children going into grades 6 through 8. The class will meet July 10 through 14 from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. on HCC’s main campus.

Bob Wantz, art instructor for HCC and with the Washington County Fine Arts Museum, will again be teaching this popular class. Wantz, a signature member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society, has works in numerous collections including the State House in Annapolis, MD. Wantz retired from the Washington County Public School System, where he served as principal of Clear Spring Middle School.

During this hands-on class, students will create a work of art while learning the basics of brushes, pigments, paper and color, along with design, tone and texture. Cost is $154 for the week. To register or for more information, call 301-790-2800, ext. 236 or visit www.hagerstowncc.edu/coned.
