Kump awarded HCC 2006 Alumni Community Citiation

(July 13, 2006) - For the past 44 years, the Hagerstown Community College Alumni Association has conferred a special recognition on a 15-year graduate of the institution for their unpaid service to their community each year. The 2006 HCC Alumni Community Citation Award winner is Larry D. Kump, Class of 1991, of Falling Waters, WV.

Kump is a case management specialist with the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, working at Roxbury Correctional Institution in Hagerstown. After earning his degree at HCC, Kump went to Frostburg State University for his bachelor’s degree.

Kump currently serves as president of the Maryland Classified Employees Association (MCEA) Public Safety Non-Custody Employees Chapter. He was recognized in 2003 as MCEA Area Member of the Year award, and also received the MCEA special recognition award in 2005.

Kump is the past president of the Governing Council of the Indiana Society for Public Administration, as well as the past president of the Assembly of Governmental Employees, and has served as a member of the Purdue University Council for Economic Educational Programs. He was commissioned as an honorary “Colonel” by the Governor of Kentucky for his contributions toward government ethics and administration.

Kump has served as a cub master, scoutmaster, seminary and Sunday school instructor, youth advisor and program coordinator for various youth groups and organizations as a volunteer.
