(December 1, 2006) - The Center for Continuing Education at Hagerstown Community College is offering a 45-hour course in EKG technician certification on Mondays and Wednesdays, January 17, 2007, through March 7, 2007, from 6 to 9 p.m.
This course will present the major theoretical concepts associated with EKG anatomy and physiology, and provide the skills and knowledge necessary to prepare students to take the National Healthcareer Association’s certification exam. The course will be taught by Paul R. Cooper, RN, AAS, BS, MSN, community services manager for Morgan County War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, WV.
About 75 percent of EKG technicians work in the hospital setting, while others work in clinics, physician’s offices, and medical and diagnostic laboratories. Many EKG technicians are healthcare practitioners who seek to enhance their skill-set by gaining additional certifications.
