Hedge Apple available on Web site

(February 16, 2007) - Hagerstown Community College’s annual literary magazine publication, “Hedge Apple,” is now available at the college’s Web site, www.hagerstowncc.edu/news.

The content of this edition of “Hedge Apple” is comprised of 80 percent current or former HCC student submissions and 20 percent HCC faculty and guest author submissions, and includes poetry, short fiction, and artwork.

HCC student contributors include Tasha Allen of Mont Alto, PA; Erica Black of McConnellsburg, PA; Adam Haller of Shippensburg, PA; Briana Deubel of Fairfax, VA; and Lauren Larocca, Kristin Hummel, Joan Selby, Vanessa Patterson and Joanne Bolling, all of Hagerstown.

The magazine takes its name from a row of Osage orange trees that run along the hill between HCC campus’s College Center and Classroom buildings. The trees are locally known as hedge apples because of the thorny branches and dark-yellow tinged bark.
