Coaching for Top Performance course
Submitted by Leigh-Anne Mauk on Mon, 03/05/2007 - 1:00am
Hagerstown Community College’s Center for Continuing Education offers a “Coaching for Top Performance” course on Monday, March 26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the HCC Valley Mall Center.
Workplace coaching has become an essential business skill that every manager needs in today’s change filled business environment. While the traditional manager was characterized as the one having the bulk of authority and holding most of the key business information, the coach in the emerging high-involvement organization helps people succeed by enabling them to manage and lead themselves. Coaching gives you the ability to bring out the best in your employees, creates productive partnerships between you and your employees, and makes teamwork happen.
Students will learn how to challenge staff members to reach higher levels of performance and also learn how to help staff members internalize the attitudes needed to keep your organization secure and focused. The course will help managers identify coaching skills/competencies, learn to document and assess performance, discover and use coaching tools, practice communication skills, and understand how to deal with coaching challenges.
Instructor Jim Cannon, M.S., brings 25 years of practical management experience to the classroom and is a certified trainer for AcheiveGlobal, Development Dimensions International, and a member of ASTD.
