HCC hosts open house for nurse educators
Submitted by Leigh-Anne Mauk on Mon, 05/21/2007 - 12:00am
Hagerstown Community College is hosting an open house to share information about becoming a member of its nursing faculty on Thursday, May 31, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Athletic, Recreation Community Center (ARCC).
“Nursing education is a good way to give back to the community,” said Carolyn Albright, HCC’s director of Health Sciences and Nursing. “With our expanded nursing program ready to start in spring 2008, we need to hire additional faculty. HCC has a tradition of graduating well educated nurses, and it is exciting that we have this opportunity to increase the number of bedside nurses in Washington County.”
HCC has partnered with the Washington County Health System to secure a $1.3 million grant that will enable the nursing program to increase its enrollment, and for the college and the health system to share resources. Beginning in 2008, the number of nursing program graduates will increase annually, to double the current number by the 2011-2012 academic year.
The open house will include a light fair dinner and information about available administrative and faculty positions. Please pre-register by calling 301-790-2800, ext. 380 or register online at www.hagerstowncc.edu/news/nursing.
