Submitted by Leigh-Anne Mauk on Fri, 06/01/2007 - 12:00am
Hagerstown Community College Center for Continuing Education offers t’ai chi for beginning and intermediate students beginning Thursday, June 14. Classes will meet at the Western Maryland Hospital Center.
The beginner’s course teaches the art of t’ai chi as a holistic exercise that promotes health, improves balance, and enhances mind-body awareness. Participants will receive step-by-step instruction in an easy-to-learn primer form of less than 20 movements selected from the Yang and Wu styles of t’ai chi. The intermediate class features authentic Northern Wu style t’ai chi ch’uan. The 37-posture Wu style t’ai chi form will be taught in step-by-step detailed instruction.
Students should wear comfortable clothing and flat-soled shoes. The beginner class will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. and the intermediate class will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Students will meet each Thursday through August 16. To learn more and to register, call 301-790-2800, ext. 236.
