HCC offers class in the art of stained glass
Submitted by Leigh-Anne Mauk on Wed, 10/01/2008 - 11:00pm
This fall, Hagerstown Community College’s Center for Continuing Education is offering an introductory course in creating stained glass artwork on Saturdays, from Oct. 18 through Nov. 22, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, in the Advanced Technology Center on HCC’s main campus.
Taught by HCC instructor Mary Leman, owner of The Glass Loft, this course is intended for beginning artists who wish to learn the “copper foil method” of stained glass design. Topics covered will include cutting glass, foiling, pattern assembly, soldering, and framing. Students will be able to create their own suncatchers and use this course as the basis for future, more advanced classes, including a class on designing individual trinket boxes using the copper foil method, which will be offered at HCC in the spring.
For more information or to register, call 301-790-2800, ext. 236, or go to www.hagerstowncc.edu/coned.
