HCC to host presidential roundtable on election ‘08
Submitted by Leigh-Anne Mauk on Tue, 10/21/2008 - 12:00am
How will the results of the 2008 presidential election impact you? A panel of leading area republicans and democrats will discuss the issues at a roundtable on Wednesday, October 29 at 7 p.m. in the College Center at Hagerstown Community College. The event is free and open to the public.
Representing the republican viewpoint will be State Delegate Christopher Shank, Washington County McCain Campaign chair Liz Jones, and Washington County Republican Central Committee member Philip Baker-Shenk. The democratic ideology will be shared by Washington County commissioner Kristin Aleshire, city councilman Lewis Metzner, and HCC professor and former local politician Michael Harsh.
Topics to be addressed will include health care, taxes, and the economy. The panelists will offer their perceptions of the party’s beliefs regarding the proper role and scope of government. Video clips from the 2008 presidential race will be interspersed with commentary. Audience questions will be accepted.
For more information, contact HCC instructor Spring Ward at 301-790-2800, ext. 409. HCC does not endorse any party or candidate for election.
