HCC offers training session for registered nurses

Hagerstown Community College’s Center for Continuing Education is offering a 16-hour training session for the registered nurse or case manager/delegating nurse in assisted living (CM/DN).

This course provides applicable tools, resources, and guidance for registered nurses who delegate nursing functions in the assisted living setting, including medication administration, as well as for registered nurses who teach medication administration to the medication technician in assisted living settings. Discussion topics include the history of assisted living programs, regulations governing CM/DN practice in assisted living, overview of CM/DN roles and responsibilities, teaching medication administration, case management principles in assisted living, delegation of nursing practices, communication, adult learning principles, and legal, ethical and business issues. Nurses must attend 16-clock hours of training to work as case managers/delegated nurses in assisted living facilities.
     
The first session is offered on Fri., Feb. 27, from 8 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., and the second session is offered on Friday, March 6, from 8 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Both sessions are held at HCC’s Valley Mall Training Center. Cost is $275. Fee includes both sessions.
