One-day fly fishing class offered

Hagerstown Community College’s Center for Continuing Education is offering a one-day course on the art of fly fishing on Sat., May 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Devil’s Backbone Park in Washington County.
Taught by HCC instructor John Clatterbaugh, the class will feature a variety of topics, including the basics of casting and line control, how to choose the right reel, rod, fly line and leader, a review of dry flies, nymphs, streamers, and other fliers, as well as practical techniques for fly fishing. Participants that plan to fish should bring their own rods and reels and have a current Maryland fishing license with a trout stamp. Fee is $68.
