Hagerstown Community College’s Center for Continuing Education is offering a 60-hour class specially designed towards providing students with the knowledge to take and pass the Maryland State Insurance Exam to obtain a life and health insurance license.
The course is divided into 40 hours of class time and 20 hours of self study and will discuss the basics of life and health insurance, including types of insurance contracts, underwriting basics, insurance contract terminology, estate planning, pre-need burial plans, individual and group plans, retirement plans, Medicare and Social Security benefits, long term health care insurance plans, and Maryland insurance laws, as well as income tax considerations and implications. A life and health insurance license is required by law to sell any kind of health or life insurance.
The course is offered on Fridays, from Sept. 11 through Oct. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:10 p.m., at HCC’s Valley Mall Center. For more information or to register, call 301-790-2800, ext. 236, or go to www.hagerstowncc.edu/coned.
